7 holiday beauty hacks for the party season

It’s officially party season! 2017 is here and we’re ready to get down to celebrate the summer. The less fun part of partying is the party preparation because a girl’s got to look her best. To make sure you shine at your new year parties, we’ve got some holiday beauty hacks.

Stay Don’t Stray

It’s a little known fact that hairspray can be used as a setting spray so, if you’re in a pinch, close your eyes and spray your face for a matte finish that will stand the test of you dancing the night away. This is especially pertinent for summer, when sweat can ruin the most beautiful makeup.

Tame Those Brows

If YouTube has taught me anything useful, it’s that soap can be used as eyebrow gel, and this is the best hack I’ve ever tried. Just make sure you have a clean spoolie brush, run it along a wet bar of soap (you want some suds but not a lot), an then apply it to your brows. Once you’re soaped up, press lightly on your eyebrows with a cotton pad to make sure there are no bubbles or excess soap there. Once you’re sure, try to apply a powder or pomade. Perfect brows all night long.

Flawless Finish

Have you used your beauty blender to within an inch of it’s life? Fear not. A silicone bra insert can be used to apply make up, and even saves product plus leaves you with an air brushed finish. This is based on the immense popularity of the SiliSponge, which looks a lot like a bra insert. Some beauty bloggers took to testing the difference between the silicone ‘sponge’ and a bra insert. They found that the results were essentially the same, so put those old bras to good use!

Better Red Than Dead

This may seem strange, but applying a red toned lipstick to your under eye can banish dark circles. Apply a light layer of lipstick and blend it out, before applying concealer over top. Set with a translucent powder and no one will ever know you were out until the early morning dancing your heart out.

Loco for Coconut Oil

Shaving can be more than just a small annoyance, but swap out your usual harsh bar of soap for coconut oil and it will all change. The results are mind blowing. You’ll have silky smooth legs all day and your skin will feel so moisturised.

Time for Tea

Forgot to apply sunscreen? Feeling a little hot after being in the sun all day? This is a tried and tested hack by the palest girl in the world (me). Brew some plain back tea and leave to cool, use a cloth to apply to the sunburned skin and leave to soak in. Re-apply when necessary and add some ice cubes for added relief. You’ll notice your skin is less tight, with the added plus of tannins in the tea helping your red skin to heal and get a bronzed look even faster!

Stick To It

Use a piece of sticky tape on each eye to guide you and help create the most symmetrical winged out eye liner look ever. If you’re using liquid eyeliner as opposed to a gel or felt tip pen, try pressing a small bit of black eyeshadow over the wing for a ultra dark matte look.
