Embrace 2017 with an improved beauty routine

2017 has dawned and it’s time to update your old beauty routine and make a fresh start for the fresh year. Whether it’s a fresh new ‘do, a glowing complexion, or even just a tad bit more oomph to your current routine, it all helps to make you feel like a new you. Follow this 2017 beauty routine to refresh yourself after the festive period and get ready to embrace summer!

Skincare

Step One

Stay hydrated! Ask any skincare expert and they’ll all tell you the same, the more water you drink the healthier glow your skin will have. It can be hard to drink a lot of water throughout the day, but if nothing else consider having the skin of a hydrated angel, and the rest will fall into place!

Step Two

Once you’ve achieved the perfect base, it’s time to maintain it. A lot of people don’t bother including a SPF product in their routine, but seeing the results of over exposure to the sun and the damage it can cause long term will change their mind. Any makeup artist will tell you to use a moisturiser with SPF in the ingredients to offset the strong effects of the sun.

Step Three

If, like me, you’re a pale, almost ghostly woman who gets lost in the white sand of the beach, false tanning can save your life. Start the summer season off right with a good base and build up a light and natural glow to carry you through the year. If, like me, you’re not blessed enough to have the ability to tan, Sunescape products will save your summer.Sunescape are a Bondi brand that has products to suit a variety of complexions without smelling “fake”. Their naturally tanned look can make even the palest girl look like she’s had a holiday of a lifetime. Just remember to exfoliate well before applying so you won’t look patchy and inexperienced.

Step Four

Moisturise! Maintain the tan and healthy skin you have already by moisturising twice a day. You should use both day and night creams, which each have different properties and encourage growth and repair for the different stages of your skin’s cycle.

Haircare

Step One

The key to good hair is protecting it. You can straighten and style it all day but, if you have split ends, you’re going to see them. Heat protectant spray is a good place to start if you use regular heat styling tools. It will tame the frizz and keep your hairstyle looking fresh all day.

Step Two

Make sure you’re getting regular trims, which aren’t as scary as you think. They actually promote hair growth and keep your mane looking healthy. Ideally, you want to visit a hairdresser every 6 weeks, which is easy when you have a good one. Don’t feel pressured to go back to a place you hate because they coax you to. Make sure you have a good relationship with your stylist and ask them for what you want. They’ll never steer you wrong.

Step Three

Leave in conditioners can be a lifesaver in Sydney’s humid weather, adding moisture without giving it a greasy look. Or maybe 2017 is the year you want to embrace your natural hair. This year the style is tending towards the natural look, so the timing is perfect. Nothing is as beautiful as the natural you, and being natural will make you more happy. Give yourself a boost of confidence and let your hair hang loose!

Beauty Products

Step One

Try swapping out a full coverage foundation for a light tinted moisturiser, or a BB cream. The lightweight formulae of these products works great in an Australian summer. They let your skin breathe and leave you feeling fresh all day with no heavy, full coverage foundation clogging your pores.

Step Two

If you want to up your makeup game, use 2017 as an opportunity to have more fun with your face. Embrace bolder lip colours and stronger eyeshadows or try a new look altogether. Play around with colours you don’t usually reach for. Create a board on Pinterest and get creative with your inspiration.

Step Three

Have fun! 2016 seen the rise and fall of products like rainbow highlighter, *ahem* phallic shaped lipstick and more beauty gadgets than you’ll ever possible need. Who know’s what 2017 will bring with it.
