Will Micellar Water Make You Give up Your Trusty Make up Wipes?

Will Micellar Water Make You Give up Your Trusty Make up Wipes?

There are many chores in life, and one of them is certainly make up removal.

There are very few people who actually enjoy trying to remove layers of foundation, blusher, highligher, eyeliner, and mascara, and trying to do it quickly often causes small particles of make up to be left behind. Over time these can block pores, dull skin, and basically give you a complexion that you don’t want or deserve. For this reason, many people choose to use make up wipes. These are quick and easy to use; you simply rub the make up off with the wipe.

There is one problem with that sentence – the word “rub”.

There isn’t a make up wipe on the planet that will effectively remove make up with just one or two swipes across the face. You usually end up rubbbing away at your skin; over time this can actually lead to premature wrinkles, and if you have sensitive skin it’s not going to do much for how your skin feels.

For that reason, micellar water is a true skincare Godsend.

What is Micellar Water?

If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon yet, you might not know what micellar water actually is. Put simply, micellar water is a cleansing cosmetic, which uses specific cleansing molecules to powerfully, yet gently, remove make up, oil, grease, grime, and sweat, with just one swipe. Whilst cleansing wipes require a little scrubbing, a cotton wool pad gently soaked with micellar water will do it all in just one movement.

Micellar water actually hails from France, and we all know that French women are renowed for their sophisication and youthful skin! You could argue that using micellar water will also save you time; scrubbing away with a wipe could certainly take a good five minutes, whereas micellar water cleansing will take less than two minutes, with far more beneficial effects.

Micellar water is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive skin, and it will leave you with noticably softer skin after just one use. Obviously, you need to continue to use micellar water as part of your evening or morning cleansing routine, in order to grab the real benefits, but as a general make up remover, it’s hard to beat.

You’ll find all manner of different micellar water products on the market, but a regular bottle with a cotton wool pad is all you need. Sure, you’ll find make up wipes infused with micellar water but these are not as powerful as the bottled water itself. You’ll still need to scrub a little, and we’re attempting to get away from all of that! The biggest hitters in the skincare world all stock a micellar water product or two nowadays, so it’s simply a case of shopping around and finding the best one for your specific needs.

The other plus point is that a good quality micellar water product could also work as a toner too, giving you a 2 in 1 experience in half the time. This is also less harsh on your skin and doesn’t leave behind that dry feel, which some toners may cause. Of course, you need to moisturise after use, but many people using micellar water also find that they require a lighter moisturiser after use, thanks to the in-built effects of the water itself!

With all of this in mind, it’s certainly worth considering your trusty make up wipes, and opting for something gentler, yet far more effective.
