Even though most of us are aware that sugar is not good for us, we often find ourselves craving sugar and finding it hard to resist all those tempting cookies, cakes, and desserts.
If you are eating too much sugar, body will give signs that it’s having more than it can take. Taking too much sugar on regular basis can lead to various serious conditions like diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and heart conditions.
If you have been noticing any of these signs, maybe it’s time to say goodbye to sugar:
You are constantly tired
Sugar can lead to energy “highs and lows”. If you have a habit of reaching out for sugar when you are feeling tired, you are developing a pattern which makes your body peak with energy when it’s high on sugar, and then plummet when is low. This way, you’ve created a vicious circle. Try not to reach out for sugars in those moments of tiredness. Eat fresh fruit, drink water or just have a quick rest.
You crave sugar all the time
Sugar is addictive. The more you eat, the more you crave it. If you have a habit of having a piece of cake after lunch, your brain has probably developed a habit. Try to cut off sugar completely. It won’t be easy, but you’ll soon realise you don’t need white sugar. Fruit will become so tasty and you’ll discover how much energy you can get from healthy eating.
You have skin problems
Too much sugar in your body can lead to acne, dry skin and sensitivity. Skin condition is often a reflection of what is happening inside our bodies. If you are taking care of your skin and face, but the problems just won’t go away, maybe you should pay attention to sugar intake.
You are often sick
Sugar is known to reduce our immunity. If you catch colds more than usual, maybe your immune system is not strong enough to fight back. Cut the sugar out and the immune system will get stronger. Be careful of the mood swings as well – sugar can influence our mood, known as the “sugar blues” syndrome. If you are noticing symptoms of anxiety or depression, get rid of sugar and any sugary food in your diet.
You are overweight
Eating too much sugar leads to weight gain. Other unhealthy foods can also lead to weight gain, but sugar is high on that list. If you are noticing an increase in your weight and extra fat especially around your waist, the time has come to quit sugar and hit the gym.
