We’ve already seen that this year hails the return of a few makeup looks that we thought were long gone (*ahem* blue eyeshadow), and this year’s Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards are no different. The gorgeous red carpet makeup worn by our favourite celebrities confirms the return of a long-cherished makeup look – the colour splash.

All over the red carpet there were dashes of primary colours punctuating gowns and tuxedos, making for a very vibrant red carpet. Classic nude lipsticks and demure eyeshadows have been replaced with coral reds and pink shadow. These are the best colour splash looks, straight from the red carpet.

Usually one to favour the smoky eye and understated glamour, Sophia Bush makes a statement with this bright colourful shadow. In keeping with this year’s beauty trends, this eyeshadow makes a definitive nod to the 80s.

Metallic shimmer

As we’ve seen, metallics are very much in this year, whether it’s in nail polish or clothing. Emily Blunt shows her stylish side with this rose gold eye shadow and bright earrings.

Multi-coloured shadow

Instead of sticking to a single shade, Danielle Brooks has opted to create a lovely multi-layered look with aquamarine and yellow hues. Such daring beauty choice goes well with her understated outfit.

Plum lips

This bold plum lip makes Maisie William’s strong brows and light eye shadow pop without overwhelming her face. The strong lip colour pulls her makeup together for a polished look.
