Beauticians and makeup artists everywhere have upped the ante, with jaw-dropping looks taking over red carpets and runways alike. From Kendall Jenner’s Met Gala bleached brows to Euphoria’s favourite resident baddie Maddy and her glam rhinestone looks, these eyebrow trends are ruling Pinterest.
The experts at HD Brows have narrowed down five of the top reigning brow trends for 2022.
1. Bleached Brows
Pinterest searches for bleached eyebrows are up 105% since Kendall Jenner debuted platinum blonde brows at the 2022 Met Gala. Very haute couture.
Lead Brow Stylist at HD Brows, Jamie Long, says, “a more wearable day to day look is bleaching the brows to lift them just a few shades. This is widely used in the brow world to help match a client’s brows to their hair colour or alternatively give a softer look to their brows.”
Whether you rock a completely bleached out brow or have your brows lifted by just a few shades – it’s safe to say that the brow bleaching trend is going nowhere.
2. 90’s Thin Brows
If you were a teenager of the 90s or noughties, you might find this a bit controversial as bushy brows have taken over the last decade, with millennials barely getting over the trauma of over-plucked brows. However, the skinny 90’s brow look is truly back for 2022, with Pinterest searches up 94% since the beginning of the year.
We’ve spotted many celebs taking this trend for a spin, from Euphoria’s Alexa Demie, to Bella Hadid, to Lily James in her role as Pamela Anderson. If you want to give this trend a try, we’d recommend staying away from the tweezers and heading to a professional.
3. Eyebrow tattoos
We aren’t all blessed with brows as naturally shapely as Cara Delivigne or Lily Collins, so microblading is the next step to achieving the salon brow look. Eyebrow tattoos aka micro blading has saved the need for time consuming, everyday brow filling, and Pinterest searches for eyebrow tattoos are up 87% since the end of 2021, as well as being up 285% for ‘natural microblading eyebrows’.
Celebs that have hopped on the microblading trend include Rihanna, Adele, and Angelina Jolie. Don’t try this at home, as there is potential to cause permanent scarring and pigment migration, so always make sure you’re being treated by a professional.
4. Fluffy Brows
A sharp contrast to the thin brow trend, the latest trend in brow artistry is seeing brows taking a naturally thicker look.
As seen on Dua Lipa, Zendaya and Gigi Hadid, fluffy brows (aka brow lamination) searches are up by 70% on Pinterest since the beginning of the year. Nothing is a trend until it’s trending on TikTok, and fluffy brows are stealing the spotlight with ‘#browlamination’ sporting 947 million TikTok views, and ‘#soapbrows’ being viewed over 269 million times.
5. Brow bling
You didn’t think that OTT brows would die down, did you? If you’ve fallen into the cult-following that is the fanbase of HBO’s Euphoria, then this eyebrow trend won’t come as a surprise. Thanks to the show, makeup with rhinestones and glitter are taking over TikTok, runaways and Instagram, and it’s a must try for any party look.
‘Makeup with gems’ is up a massive 2,767% on Pinterest since season 2 of the show debuted, and #rhinestoneeyebrows taking over 138k views over TikTok.
