Power suits are back, and we have no idea why they ever left. Sure, suits were traditionally designed for men. But there’s no denying that they suit women better. Sorry, fellas. Just look at Blake Lively. She has been killing it in back-to-back suits for months now. While us Aussies are headed into the hot summer, Spring racing season has begun, and what better way to celebrate than to get a fresh suit to show off?
One
Mossman have absolutely killed it with this bright red co-ord. The Can’t Break My Stride Suit is available in a few different colours, but nothing can top this vibrant red. The blazer features a double breasted front, slight padding in the shoulders with contrasting gold buttons. There is no doubting the quality of this ensemble, with a fully lined blazer, cinched waistline and internal pockets to stash all your items. What more could you want? Pair this outfit with statement gold hoop earrings, layered gold necklaces and a pair of black or matching red heels. You could even match your lipstick to this number, perhaps a blue red lipstick like MAC’s Ruby Woo. Pick your favourite fascinator and be on your merry way!
Two
Zara has always been an affordable brand with on trend and key pieces for everybody’s wardrobe. They definitely aren’t lacking in the power suit department with different styles to suit different body shapes. This bright pink Coloured Frock Co-Ord has a very similar style to the Mossman suit. The jacket features a lapel collar, front welt pockets and a hidden snap button. The colour is SO vibrant, and again would make an awesome statement either worn together or separately. You can dress this outfit down with a pair of patent ankle boots or you could wear a fierce pair of pointed pumps for those fancy occasions.
Three
Zara truly has killed the game, with this slightly different suit in a beautiful mustard colour. The Peplum Blazer features a lapel collar, double breasted fastenings and is an A-line peplum fit. This feature differentiates this suit from others on the market, and at Zara pricing, it’s definitely a co-ord to consider! The bright yellow/mustard colour will truly make a statement at your spring carnival event, and you’ll look a million bucks! Dress this power suit up with contrasting coloured heels and a grungy, smudged eyeshadow.
Four
Topshop has really come through with the statement and trend pieces lately, and this power suit is a perfect hybrid. The Brown Leopard Print Suit is a perfect combination of non-tacky leopard print and a power suit. As someone who doesn’t particularly wear a lot of animal print, I am very tempted to purchase this co-ord. While the design isn’t as fancy as the other suits here, it’s got a more casual vibe which I love. You can totally rock this suit with a pair of vans or a black pair of points to dress it up. Wear your hair in a slicked low pony and you’ve got Boss Babe vibes.
Five
This is the closest dupe I’ve found to the Mossman suit, and it’s from ASOS! ASOS truly understands all of the new season trends, and this Tailored Pop Blue Suit is no exception. The double breasted blazer looks IDENTICAL to the more expensive stepsister, just in a brighter and more intense blue colour. This blazer has black contrasting fastenings and a cinched waistline. With the items being ASOS Design, these pieces are so affordable. Pair this bright suit with a pair of silver or metallic strappy heels, your favourite black clutch and statement earrings.
Why not feel like an absolute boss lady in a power suit this Spring racing season? The bright block colours will fit in perfectly at the races, you’ll be comfy in pants AND you won’t have to worry about flashing someone. Sounds perfect to us!
