Let’s confess- who here spends more money on makeup than they should? I am very, very guilty, and probably not the only one. My regular strolls through Mecca are killing on my funds, seducing me with beautiful eye palettes and matte lipsticks left and right.
In order to reign in our splurging on these beauties, I’ve researched and found some dupes for those pricy products.
Kat von D’s Tattoo Liner vs NYX Epic Ink Liner
The Tattoo Liner has become a holy grail in a lot of MUA’s beauty arsenals and we can’t blame them. The liner is known for being smudge proof, living up to its Tattoo name. However, NYX Epic Ink Liner is able to knock it off it’s throne.
The liner is extremely pigmented and every stroke is unbelievably fluid for a defined finish. Both products are able to create wings so sharp you’ll need a caution sign.
Marc Jacobs Enamored Lip Lacquer vs e.l.f. Lip Lacquer
Many of us fell in love with the beautiful pink lipgloss Selena Gomez is donning in her music video “Fetish”. Since the video came out, and even before that, people have been pining after the lipgloss.
Her makeup artist for the video Hung Vanngo revealed Marc Jacobs Enamored Lip Lacquer in the colour “French Tickler”.
While we’re in love with the gloss, it might be a bit of a splurge for something you might only wear a few times. So, I introduce you to E.l.f.’s Lip lacquer in “Natural.” While it might be a bit more sticky than the high-end gloss, it does the job with ease.
YSL Tatouage Couture Matte Lip Stain vs NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream
Are you more of a matte girl? Same here. I love a matte formula that doesn’t dry out my lips, but still has a lightweight feel. At the same time, I need a poppy add-on for my summer glow.
A perfect product for the job is Yves Saint Laurent’s Lip Stain in Rose Pink. It does come at the price of $57, so if you want something less kaching, I have the perfect dupe for you.
NYX’s Soft Matte Lip Cream in Paris is a hot pink dupe that will run you $37 less. It’s texture is creamy and it doesn’t dry out your lips at all.
Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb vs MuruMuru Butter Highlighter
Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty makeup line is famous for its beautiful glam highlighters. One top product is the Diamond Bomb All-over Diamond Veil, which is currently sold out on Sephora’s site. Although they have a waiting list, if you’re sick and tired of waiting, I have the perfect dupe for you.
The MuruMuru Butter Highlighter by Physicians Formula in “Pearl” is an ultra-luxurious and multi-dimensional cream-to-powder highlighter, which delivers a radiant Brazilian goddess glow.
The product is lightweight and its blendable coverage features ultra-defined pearls and soft-focus pigments that smooth skin texture, brighten skin tone and deliver a gorgeous highlighted finish.
Both products melt into your skin and make you the glittery goddess you are. The difference is $30 and the Butter Highlighter is available right now.
Too Faced Better Than Sex vs RIMMEL Scandaleyes Reloaded Mascara
The Better Than Sex Mascara has gone and claimed its cult status among mascara’s in both Australia and overseas. The product won this years Mecca Beauty Election 2018 in the Mascara Category.
The innovative curved brush was designed after “discovering the bust-waist-hip ratio of an iconic silver screen Blonde Bombshell”. If it’s based on Marilyn Monroe it can’t be anything but good. The brush silhouette separates, coats and curls each lash to voluptuous perfection!
You can see why it was difficult for me to find a contender, but after plenty of research, I was finally able to. RIMMEL’s Scandaleyes Reloaded Mascara is a close second, with its max density brush giving you extreme volume.
So if you are tired of continuously living off dry bread and water after each time you visit Mecca and Sephora, try out these products. You’ll get new makeup goodies and save money at the same time! Or does it not work like this?
