If you’ve got eyes and haven’t been living under a rock for the last ten years, you’ll know exactly what the Naked Palette is and how groundbreaking it was for the makeup world. But it’s time to put on your waterproof mascara and brace for the tears – Urban Decay is discontinuing the original Naked Palette.
We know, it’s devastating. The palette launched back in 2010, and revolutionised the eye shadow game. While neutral eyeshadows definitely existed pre-Naked palette (a dark time we don’t want to remember), they were incomparable to the pigmented, blendable, and wearable colours Urban Decay brought to the table.
Founding partner of Urban Decay Wende Zomnir agrees that removing the iconic shades off the shelves is definitely bittersweet, but promises that the future of Urban Decay is bright.
“It’s a little painful to leave your past behind, but it’s also essential to always evolve,” Zomnir said in a statement.
“I will forever miss Naked, but we plan to turn the grief into even more greatness. Urban Decay will continue to thrive in Naked’s memory and honor — just wait and see.”
Beauty influencers and makeup artists have taken to social media to voice their disappointment. Beauty YouTuber Kathleen Fuentes (Kathleen Lights) claims the palette was the thing that kick started her career and passion for makeup.
“Urban Decay is discontinuing the first palette I ever ever bought. The first makeup purchase that made me fall in love with makeup. IDK how to handle this,” she Tweeted to her 615K followers.
On the plus side, the palette is on sale from now until it is taken off the shelves for good! So get your hands on one here and enjoy it while you can.
We’re not crying, you are.
