Oil Pulling: The Newest Teeth Whitening Hack

I’m a sucker for easy health and beauty hacks and am always open to trying new ones (even if they sound a little far fetched). I’m a huge fan of warm lemon water in the morning, wellness shots and am so determined for that natural glow I endure the awful taste of turmeric every now and then.

This new trend sounds like something out of an ancient Egyptian history book, and well, its not that far from the truth.

Oil pulling was traditionally known as an Ayurvedic cleansing technique that has literally been around for centuries. A detox ritual that gives you radiant skin and a glowing smile? Count me in x10!

You can practically use any oil for this, but Coconut Oil is the most popular choice (for both taste reasons and awesome antibacterial properties). Oil pulling removes bacteria from your teeth, cures bad breath and soothes the throat. It also strengthens the jaw and gums! Apart from giving you a great smile, oil pulling is also said to be an incredible anti inflammation tool, acne reducer and immune system booster!

So, how do I do it?

Make sure your coconut oil is refrigerated overnight. On an empty stomach in the morning, swish a tablespoon of cold coconut oil in your mouth for around 15-20 minutes— making sure you ‘pull’ the oil through your teeth and around your gums while doing so. When the time’s up, spit it out, rinse your mouth and brush your teeth.
Try Oil Pulling once a week and watch your skin, smile and inner you glow!
