We all want those long, fluttery eyelashes that adorn the eyes of celebrities everywhere. Unless you were born blessed with luscious lashes of your own, you will probably have tried falsies at some point. Cheaper and much less maintenance required than heading to the salon for semi-permanent lashes, falsies allow you to use them when you want, and remove them when you don’t.
Of course, there is a real knack for applying them properly, otherwise you may end up with a strip of lashes on your nose by the end of the night. We won’t give you a step by step instruction list on how to do this, because you have probably done it a million before and if not, you will easily be able to read the instructions on the back of the packet. What we will do however, is give you a few hidden hints, which will make your falsie application easier, more cost effective, and which will make your lashes last longer too.
Get The Size Right
Everyone has different sized and shaped eyes, and that means that you need to do a little measuring and shaping before you apply them. If you don’t do this, your eyes are going to look odd to say the least. Simply trim the excess with a pair of scissors – simple!
Get a More Dramatic Look
If you want to go all out with your lashes, perhaps for a special occasion, then you can apply two sets to one eye – yes, really! All you need to do here is to stack them on top of each other and glue them in place, before you try and apply them as one.
Look Down to Apply
Many people get this part wrong, and they simply gaze into the mirror to apply them. You’re missing a real tip here, becuase when you look down to apply lashes, you get a much more precise application. Use a mirror laid flat on a table, and place your elbows down on either side of it.
Tacky Glue Sticks Better Than Wet Glue
Apply the glue to your lash line and leave it for just under a minute, until the glue starts to go a little tacky. Once this happens, apply the lashes. The glue will adhere to the lashes much better at this point, rather than when it is wet, and the lashes will be sliding around.
Save Cash and Reuse Your Lashes
Yes, you can reuse them, provided you clean them properly, to avoid dried glue from causing a problem, or from bacteria setting in. Once you’ve removed the lashes carefully, soak them in hot, soapy water, to remove all the glue. Once clean, leave them on a paper towel to air dry, before storing them somewhere clean.
These eyelash hacks will certainly make your falsies not only stick better, look better, and feel better, but will save you cash too!
