Sydney may not be the climate for a ‘traditional’ white christmas, but that doesn’t mean it’s short of any events or activities over the holiday period to help you get the festive feeling! Here’s the 5 best Christmas events around Sydney this December.
Carols in the Domain
Christmas carols alone are a staple during the holidays but Woolworths take carols and amplify them into the Carols in the Domain Concert. Which is fast becoming an Australian tradition for me. As the name mentions it’s held in The Domain, Sydney on the 18th of December. The day starts at 12pm with a carnival, festive eats and drinks with lots of family fun entertainment to keep everyone busy until the the show starts at 8pm with a host of Stars taking the stage to lead Australia along in a magical night of singing under the stars.
Carriageworks Twilight Christmas Markets
The Twilight Markets run form 4pm to 9pm and are the best opportunity to purchase all your festive needs. Vendors supply a host of fresh produce like turkey’s and ham’s, seafood, fresh fruit and veg along with cheeses and puddings! Twilight markets make for a great evening out, with a fantastic opportunity to support local farmers.
SantaFest Darling Harbour
If you’re taking a stroll though darling harbour and feel yourself being watched, theres a good reason! Until Christmas Eve, Darling Harbour hosts SantaFest. Giant inflatable Santa’s will be hidden on rooftops, sneaking out from behind buildings and spreading Christmas cheer for all to hear! Get lost in the Santa Maze, or chill out at the open air cinema with one of your Christmas favourites! Bonus if you visit on a Friday or Saturday night to hear some of Sydney’s best Choirs including the Australian Girls Choir, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir and the Symphonic Wind Orchestra.
Sydney Santa Spectacular
Starting December 9th Rosehill Gardens will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland. There will be food and drink stalls, fairground rides, Santa’s Enchanted Forest and most important an ice rink! The event runs until December 27th.
Sydney Hills Christmas Sky Show
Back, and better than before the Sydney Hills Christmas Sky Show will include animated light stories stretching along a 40 metre long banner. accompanying the stories will be music and snow! Running now, from the 3rd of December to the 26th. (But closed on Christmas Day.) You can gather your friends and family to dance the night away!
