Why it’s important to never give up

Amongst all the gloom associated with the presidential election, Hillary Clinton may have just delivered the most inspiring concession speech to women of all ages, everywhere. While she was not elected as the first female president, she reminded her audience to “never doubt” their value and power before encouraging all women to “never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it”. Before admiring the level of sophistication within the lines of Hillary’s speech, her level of pride and strength left me feeling empowered along with the drive to keep powering through the dark moments. If you’re in need of a little inspiration to carry on, here are a few reasons to remind yourself that giving up is never a viable option.

Education is everything.

When moments of failure strike, use this period of time to reflect upon what went wrong in terms of your attempt and conduction. Learning from your mistakes will become your ally to help you become bigger and better than before. During your next try to get it right, you’ll find yourself feeling more confident in your decisions and choices. Not only will you become more confident in your skills and abilities, you’ll soon learn how strong you are as a person, especially when it comes to dealing with hardship.

You’ll ignite the fire in you.

Rory Cochrane once said “I do not regret the things I’ve done, but those I did not do”. Wallowing in self pity will never get you anywhere as failure is the opportunity to prove not only to others, but more importantly yourself, that you are capable of anything. Use this as a chance to truly fight for your pride by showing the world what you are made of. Make yourself proud by working hard and you’ll soon be reaping the benefits.

Understand that no one is perfect.

Although this may seem like a given, many often strive for a level of perfection that does not exist, causing them to fall harder than usual. This is the time to realise that mistakes are a regular part of life, once you’ve done that, you’ll find yourself even closer to your goal than you were before.

Rome wasn’t built in a day and all that jazz.

When times are tough, it is important to remember that even the greatest started out as amateurs. Your skills are your most valuable asset, so take the time to develop and better them to your own advantage. Allow yourself to enjoy the journey, rather than the destination, after all, true success isn’t rewarding if it did not sprout from hard work.

What goes up…

There goes the saying ‘what goes up, must go down’, however, this is not a one-way street. When you’ve found that you have hit rock bottom, only one option lies in front of you: going up. Now is the time to embrace positivity by practising the notion that things can only get better from here.
