How to: Breakout no more

When you wake up in the morning, you can normally feel the effects of the night before on your skin. I’m not talking about the boozy night you had and feeling groggy but rather about what you consumed the night before and the oils your skin absorbed. Your skin is like a sponge and absorbs everything you consume and drink over the day. Sometimes it’s hard to remember that a little daily hygiene can do wonders.

Here are a few tips and tricks to keep the breakout at bay.

Wash Yo Face Gurl

If you have a flare up, use a gentle pimple cleanser but don’t do it everyday or twice a day. Aggressively cleaning causes it to flare up and get irritated. It can bring on other infections and sensitivity. It’s important to wash your face in the morning to get rid of excess oils and fats. It also clogs your pores and promotes the growth of pimples.

Try an over the counter product

An over the counter product that contains benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid could be your solution. Benzoyl peroxide treats acne by killing the bacteria and helps the skin dry and peel. Salicylic acid helps reduce swelling and redness and unplugs blocked skin pores, shrinking pimples.

Why not try a Glycolic acid facial wash?

This  wash exfoliates the skin, removes dead skin cells and basically regenerates your skin. It unclogs congested pores too. You can pick it up from your local chemist or drugstore.

Be more aware of what you put in your body.

Avoid high sugary foods, chocolate, processed chips, anything deep fried. It sounds simple but some days, hunger just takes over and we forget to take more care of what we consume. Go on a bit of a clean, natural diet. Have carrots and apples for snacks, eat porridge. Filling foods to fill your tummy. If you have sugar in your porridge, gently cleanse your skin after to get rid of any sugar absorbed into your skin.

Go to the Doctor

You may have felt that you’ve tried every remedy under the sun from your local chemist but NOTHING’s working!  Maybe a trip to the doctor is all you need. Don’t always try the cheapest and fastest way because it could end up making things worse. Maybe a medicated lotion will help you, especially if you’ve had acne or other skin issues growing up.
