All you need to know about eyelash extensions

It’s the best way to look fresh and beautiful with minimal effort, but long eyelashes can be hard to achieve without the right genetics. False eyelashes look lovely but unfortunately they don’t last long. Luckily, some genius invented eyelash extensions and, obviously, they’ve obviously become wildly popular.

Eyelash extensions look natural and add length and volume with longer-lasting results, so it’s the ideal solution to your eyelash dilemmas. If you’re interested in knowing more about the intricate details of eyelash extensions, we’ve collected all the details.

First of all, there are three types of lash extensions: synthetic, silk and mink. You can also select the size of your lashes, with availability ranging from 6mm to 17mm.

Everyone has different lashes and, depending on the condition of your natural lashes, lash experts can only go a certain length or thickness.

Once selected, the lashes are applied one by one using a specially formulated semi-permanent glue that will not irritate the eye nor damage the natural lash. However, since allergic reactions are possible, there are different types of glue based on one’s sensitivity.

Applying a full set of lashes takes around two hours, and they can be maintained year-round with touch-ups recommended every three to four weeks.

A half set of lashes are an economical alternative that allows you to achieve a similarly dramatic effect. A half set gives 50-60% more volume and length to your top lashes. It’s better to select a half set if you aren’t sure about getting extensions, or it’s your first time. It’s easier to add more lashes rather than to remove them, so it’s best to start slow. A half set is applied as filler to thicken natural lashes, or applied outward from the eye for a specific look.

Since your eyes will be shut during the application of the lash extensions, no glue should get into your eye. However, the first safety precaution you can take to avoid any irritation is to be sure that the glue is safe for your eyes and doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients like formaldehyde. Internationally shipped glues are especially dangerous, as shipping the glues often leads to a buildup of formaldehyde by the time they reach the salon.

If you experience any burning or discomfort during the procedure, you should certainly let your technician know that you’re uncomfortable. Your eyelash technician may need to change the glue, because getting lash extensions should be a completely pain-free experience.
