Top 5 Breast Augmentation Myths and Misconceptions!

With so many myths surrounding breast augmentation, it’s hard to differentiate between fact and fiction. Dr David and Associates has listed the top 5 Myths and Misconceptions and cracked them wide open!

Myth 1. After breast surgery, I will be out of action for weeks!

MYTH!

With most breast augmentation procedures you will be back to work within a week.  Dr David and Associates use the Rapid Recovery Technique with PURE Foam Implants – which not only ensures a faster, easier recovery, but in the majority of cases will have you out and about the very next day after surgery!

Myth 2. One size fits all!

MISCONCEPTION!

It is a common misconception that if a friend of yours had 330cc and is now a Double D you too could do the same.  This is however totally untrue. The size before surgery, your individual anatomy, and the placement of the implants all affect the end result and sizing can vary greatly from patient to patient.

Myth 3. You cannot breastfeed with implants

MYTH!

Many people hold off on getting breast implants under the false idea that they will be unable to breastfeed with breast implants.

The ability to successfully breastfeed does vary in all women, with or without breast implants, but the placement of the implant will not damage the milk ducts or milk production glands.  In the majority of cases, women who have breast implants will have no trouble breastfeeding. Breast implants do not change a woman’s ability to breastfeed.

Myth 4. All Breast Implants produce fake looking breasts

MYTH!

The shape and size of your breast augmentation will depend on your desired look. If you wish to achieve natural results, your surgeon will select your implants accordingly. At Dr David and Associates we use teardrop-shaped PURE Foam implants to help achieve very natural looking breasts.

Myth 5. Breast implants need to be replaced every 10 years

MYTH!

This is an extremely common myth.  With current implant technologies we expect patients to have a lifetime of use and enjoyment without further surgery. There are things that can affect the life and placement of your implants, things like extreme weight loss or gain for example.  For reasons like this or if someone wishes to have larger or smaller implants they may then need revision surgery. Most women however do not require additional surgery and live happily with their original implants.
