The AMA’s. Some might call it an excuse to get glammed up, sit in a chair for four hours, and stare at all the other pretty people in the vicinity. We call it another excuse to judge these people on their appearances as incredibly biased, unqualified unprofessionals.
Here are some of our favourite looks from the night:
If we were in high school with Vanessa Hudgens, we just know that she’d be the type of girl that always had her eyebrows plucked, whose eye bags were Gucci at the very least, and who always ate breakfast every morning. And we’d 100% run away from her every time. But holy moly she nailed it at the AMA’s (unsurprisingly). Hudgens frocked up in a stunning baby pink number by luxury brand Cushnie, and an earpiece in the shape of a lightning bolt. Because this look was ELECTRIFYING I’m sorry I’ll leave. She looked bomb though.
Liza is pretty much shattering all of our hopes and dream here. We like to think that funny people are a little unattractive and they use their humour to overcompensate for a bulbous nose or monobrow or something. But Liza is beautiful, AND hilarious, so excuse us while we go blow our bulbous noses into a tissue and cry in a corner. Liza gets it right every time, and the AMA’s was no exception. Dressed in a jumpsuit from Prabal Gurung, Liza was the queen of the red carpet and our heart. And props to her for hoisting that massive ponytail around all night. Girl’s got guns.
Ciara was much more dressed down than that of Liza and Vanessa, but did she look just as stunning? Hell yeah. Ciara wore a dress by designer D Squared 2, which featured a plunging, zipper neckline and some black strappy heels. Ciara is nailing the smart-casual dress code to a tee, and yes, we’re incredibly jealous. If you’re wondering why her hair is so big, it’s not because it’s full of secrets, just a crap-tonne of hairspray and gel and probably an entire 400 pack of bobby pins. Cute!
Holy sequins! Constance Wu sparkled on the red carpet in an N21 design, styled by Micaela Erlanger. The Crazy Rich Asians actress looked incredible with a simple black heel, and a half-updo, proving that less really is more in the accessories department. We can’t wait to see more red carpet looks from the beauty, and please MORE SEQUINS! MORE!
If we looked half as stunning as Rita Ora does on an every day basis, we’d be pretty stoked. Rita was dressed in a beautiful Giambattista Valli Couture gown, and slicked back hair. Ora was at the awards show celebrating her new album, Phoenix. She looked demure, and sophisticated and we couldn’t be any more obsessed if we tried. Thank you, Queen Rita.
