How to Get Emily Ratajkowski’s 5 Minute Makeup Look

Whilst Em Rata’s five minute face is undeniably quick and flawless, it’s also packed full of products. The 27-year old model and actress recently made a makeup tutorial for Vogue, recreating the simple and sultry makeup she wears often on nights out with her husband, Sebastian Bear-McClard.

The tutorial uses some more affordable products like Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara, and also includes products with hefty price tags with brands like Charlotte Tilbury and Pat McGrath Labs. All in all, the 12 products she uses in the tutorial come in at $406.

Ratajkowski does share some solid tips though, like how to recreate a 90’s inspired blush. Check out her tutorial.

First things first, Em makes sure she has a clean and moisturised face before starting application. Then, she dives straight into foundation.

BASE

Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation. She notes that she never lets the sun touch her face so she requires a darker shade to match her tan body. She uses her hands to apply the foundation because she finds that it allows the product to blend in more seamlessly.

She follows foundation with eyebrows. She sweeps her Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara through her amazing brows and ensures she brushes them up. She says “I don’t think there’s anything sadder than when an eyebrow is smooshed down.” I concur, Emily.

Next is highlighter, and she uses Milk Makeup highlighter in the shade Lit. She takes the stick directly over the bridge of her nose, her cupids bow, cheekbones and onto her brow bone. She blends out the harsh lines with her fingers and her skin is absolutely GLOWING.

Next is blush. And boy oh boy, does she apply a LOT of blush. She uses NudeStix Cream Blush, adding it to her cheeks and to her nose which she explains is a ‘90s trick’ to make it look like you’ve been in the sun. Rata puts her blush higher onto her cheekbones because she thinks it looks more natural. She basically brings it right up under her eyes, and for a second, she looks a little bit crazy.

She follows by grabbing her Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow Cream and applies the contour/bronzer shade to her cheeks. She uses a brush and minimally applies the product under her cheekbones and on her forehead. We’re gutted that the cream products have been discontinued, but check out the powder version.

To tone down the products she’s layered on her face, she conceals her under eyes (not that she needs it tbh). She simply dots on her concealer under her eyes and blends it out using her favourite tool – her fingers. She says that the more you layer and blend, the better it looks.

EYES

She moves onto her eyes and uses a palette which she put together herself. She takes the medium warm brown shade on a fluffy blending brush and runs it through her crease to create definition. After blending the shadow up high onto her brow bone, she places the same shadow on her lower lash line all the way into her inner corner using a small dense pencil brush. She explains if she’s going out at night, she tends to add a deep chocolate shade to the outer corners of her eye for more definition. To finish her eyes, she takes the Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Pencil and runs it on her brown bone to help blend the shadow.

Emily then grabs her current favourite mascara, Glossier Lash Slick and applies directly to her lashes. She loves this mascara because it looks so natural and gives her lashes length. She doesn’t apply much to her lower lashes, but she pulls the mascara outwards to give her eyes a cat eye shape.

LIPS

For her pout, she adds a berry like natural toned lip liner by Pat McGrath Labs and lines right over her natural lip line. This gives her a plump look without looking overdrawn. She goes right over the top with Marc Jacobs lipstick in the shade J’Adore 230 and taps a small amount over her lips. She then tops all of that off with a Pat McGrath Labs Blitz Gold Lip Gloss.

Well there you go, the list of products you need to look like Emily Ratajkowski. All I need is to buy one of her bikinis from her brand Inamorata and look sultrily into the distance… then the look is COMPLETE.
