The Beauty Trend Making People Go CocoNUTS!

Coconuts. They make great snacks, great drinks and are the perfect coating on Iced Vovo’s and Lamingtons. But, when it comes to beauty products, its their scent that makes us feel all Summer ready, with its ultra-hydrating properties and skin reviving superpowers, coconut beauty products have become our summer-in-a-bottle favourites, all year round! Here is a list of our favourite coconut products on the market to get your mitts on STAT.

MineTan Super Dark Cocoa Coconut Water Self Tan Foam

The first thing that comes to mind when I hear summer is bronzey skin! The Aussie sun is so damaging on our skin, fake tan has become an essential in many of our beauty routines. In particular, MineTan Super Dark Cocoa Coconut Water Self Tan Foam is the perfect product for a natural bronze glow without all the excessive sun damage. I like to apply two coats before going to bed to marinate overnight, shower the next morning to rinse the colour guard off and be on my merry way. You can pick up this lifesaving product at Priceline for $29.99.

LeTan Coconut Spray SPF30

Now, for one of the most important elements of your Summer skin regime– products laced with SPF are a necessity! We love the LeTan Coconut Spray SPF30 which smells delicious! We like to apply this all over the body about 20 minutes before leaving the house so it sinks in nicely. You can purchase LeTan products at Priceline or on their own website, with the Coconut Spray retailing for $16.99.

Palmer’s Coconut Body Oil

If you’ve spent a little too long outside without adequate SPF, your skin might be feeling a little bit tender. Luckily, Palmer’s have you covered with their Coconut Body Oil, a luxe way to moisturise your body in the summer while giving your body a light coconut scent. Another way you can use this product, is to add a dash of your favourite makeup pigment into your bottle. Apply to your body and watch it glow in the sun. A bottle of this body oil will set you back $9.99 from Priceline.

OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo & Conditioner

When you get home from the beach, the first thing you’ll want to do is have a shower and rinse your body from all the drying salt and wash your hair. OGX have a great Coconut Milk range which is perfectly hydrating for your dry and salty hair. There’s nothing better than having clean hair that smells of delicious coconuts. You can buy the Coconut Milk Shampoo, Conditioner and Hair Serum from Priceline stores for $17.99 each.

Farmacy Coconut Gel Facemask

Sometimes it’s just nice to come home and put a face-mask on. We love the Farmacy Coconut Gel Facemask, because it’s not drying like a clay, and gel masks can be put in the fridge for a nice and cool refreshment after a long day in the sun. The Farmacy masks are super hydrating and smell like, you guessed it, coconuts! Farmacy can be purchased from Sephora, these masks in particular are $12 a pop.

Hurraw! Lip Balm

If you’re looking for an amazing lip balm, Hurraw! lip balms come in a multitude of flavours, are very small and perfect for popping in your handbags. Of course, we recommend the coconut flavour! It’s not overwhelming in scent, but its healing power is incredible! Hurraw! can be purchased online at iHerb for $5.28 each. We like to stock up on all our faves and leave them in our bags, car and pockets.

Marc Jacobs’ Coconut Range

Marc Jacobs has a whole line of coconut infused makeup and we are living for it. He has a coconut face primer, coconut dew drops (which are to die for by the way), coconut setting spray and coconut lip glosses. They’ve basically ticked every box! The primer is very hydrating and is a gorgeous base, the dew drops add a dewy highlight instead of a really intense stripe and the setting spray perfectly mists over your face, setting all the powders into the skin.  You can purchase the whole kit from Net-A-Porter for $110, or individual items from Sephora.

Coconut Oil

And of course, this would not be a coconut lover post if we didn’t include the OG – Coconut Oil (DUH!) Although it’s not great to use as a moisturiser (it’s been proven to be comegdonic) it’s a simple and affordable way to remove makeup. We love the RMS Raw Coconut Cream, however, it’s a little expensive for coconut oil, coming in hot at $26 per tub. So if you didn’t want to splurge, you can purchase virgin coconut oil from your local health food shop or online at iHerb for $23.93 (for more than double the product). We like to massage a small amount onto a dry face to breakdown makeup. Then, take a warm damp cloth and remove the product from your skin. This will leave you makeup free, without the dry feeling.
