We all know how it feels to look through your closet at the beginning of a new season only to realise our clothes from last year no longer fit. This can leave us feeling unmotivated and deflated as we start our day. Getting dressed should be a fun experience leaving you feeling as though you’ve just left the catwalk. Here are some of our tips and tricks to help you find that much needed self-confidence in your closet!
1. Throw out the aspirational clothes
That dress you bought a few months ago that’s four dress sizes too small, throw it out! Research has shown that aspirational clothes often lower our self-esteem instead of boosting our motivation.
2. Throw out the clothes that are too big
If you’ve recently lost weight, you may be holding onto those old, loose-fitting clothes in fear of gaining weight again. It’s time to banish the anxiety and start trusting in yourself! Keeping those clothes can set you up for failure by encouraging those feelings of anxiety.
3. Decorate your wardrobe
Placing your favourite quote inside your closet will be a daily reminder to keep you feeling great. Alternatively, a photo of loved ones, pets or even past events will make you smile whenever you open that closet door.
4. Buy some new clothes
I don’t know about you, but nothing excites me more than knowing I have a new sweater or dress to wear the next day. Buying a few new items of clothing that fit comfortably will make getting dressed the highlight of your morning. Remember, you don’t have to fit the dress, the dress has to fit you.
What you wear often gives you the confidence to begin your day, so it’s important that you love the way you look. Embrace the upcoming Winter season and start off right by making sure your closet is ready for you!
