Melbourne Cup 2017: favourite frocks and fashion

Once again, the race that stops the nation and many beating hearts has come upon us. The Melbourne Cup Carnival held annually in Melbourne, VIC has seen much beauty and brawn over the years since its inauguration in 1861. Considered Australia’s most prestigious thoroughbred horse race, the Melbourne Cup has been home to decades of emerging fashion trends AKA ‘Fashion on the Fields.’

Whether you’re there in the flesh, sporting a glamourous dress with champagne in hand or you’re celebrating today’s festivities at the office with hot heels and a fun fascinator, here’s a snapshot of our favourite Aussie celebrity get-ups from Melbourne Cup 2017.

Jen Hawkins

Our beloved Miss Universe looks nothing short of gorgeous with this stunning black and pastel pink dress made of soft tulle accompanied with a boho floral headpiece and strappy heels. Designed by Alex Perry himself, this dress made up of a midi prom skirt and princess bodice is a perfect statement of classic femininity.

Bec Judd

One to always make a statement, Bec has frocked up in fluoro. With unconventional lines, cut-outs and shapes, this bright and bold pink dress designed by Lolitta certainly has heads turning. Finished up with a matching bronze boater-sun hat and shoes, this KIIS FM radio host is looking mighty fine.

Hamish & Andy

No event is worth turning up to without our kings of comedy. Fox FM radio hosts Hamish and Andy are looking dashing and dapper in two shades of grey, wearing suits designed by Dom Bagnato. Not easily impressed, Andy says, “It didn’t spontaneously catch fire nor did it disintegrate when hit by water which are two very important qualities in a suit.”

Anna Heinrich

The Bachelor season one winner Anna is set to brighten your day with this number designed by Rebecca Vallance. Anna’s one-shoulder bodycon in sunflower yellow with a larger-than-life bow coupled with a Scanlan Theodore headpiece makes for a stunning and sophisticated look.

Elyse Knowles

Elyse hasn’t only walked away as the winner of The Block 2017, but can be seen here winning as the lady in white. Designed by Paolo Sebastian, the luscious lace, embroidery and detailing has Elyse looking purely prim and posh. Opting for more subtle headwear, Elyse wears golden goddess hairclips by Chanel for the final finishing touch.
