There is a new eyebrow trend taking over Instagram at the moment, and it’s about to replace the typical “Instagram brow” with its severe, boxy arches and its ombré tail and surrounding highlighter.

The Brow Carving trend was created by a makeup artist from Austin, Texas called Alexa Link. Her new take on eyebrow style has even inspired makeup artists including Mario Dedivanovic, a founding member of Kim Kardashian’s glam team!

Here’s how Brow Carving works: Alexa Link updated the part of the Instagram brow where you usually find the highlighter edge, by creating an unorthodox sculpting effect using precisely blended eye-shadows and liners.

Of course an intriguing make-up trend like this is picked up quickly by other makeup artists, and so Link’s creation is consistently evolving and being transformed.

Unfortunately, the makeup artist never officially explained how to achieve the best Brow Carving look, but we think the process might go like this: first, trace lines around the outer perimeter of your eyebrows and use an eyeliner to create sharp, defined edges. After that, blend out the edges with coordinating eye shadow to get a smoky eye effect. Just try it out to find the best way of creating your own frame for your brows!
