Whenever Louis Vuitton collaborates with someone, it always end with a fabulous new fashion creation. Their latest collaboration with popular American artist Jeff Koons is no different.
The collaboration, which was revealed at the Lourve Museum in Paris, features a collection of various accessories which feature the works of five famous artists including Leonardo Da Vinci and Vincent van Gogh.
The type of accessories available include backpacks, chain bags, shawls and wallets which, can come in up to two colours, sea green (Vert d’eau) and coral (Corail). However not all accessories are available for each artist.
The bags are all made with calf leather trimmings and sheep leather lining. Depending on the bag you get, you can get a number of other features including detachable clutch or a detachable charm made with calf leather and coloured metal.
On the other hand, the shawl and silk square are made of 61% wool and 39% silk and have fringe finishing and hand-rolled finishing respectively.
In a video on the collections website, Jeff Koons said he hoped people would be able to use it to connect.
“I would hope that when somebody walks down the streets with this, that what they’re doing is really celebrating humanity. I hope somebody who sees the bag can emotionally feel this connectivity.”
He went on to say that he wanted to collection to be something that was both desirable and appreciated.
“We want to make something that really uses materials, textures, colours, communicates, creates something desirable. Louis Vuitton does that and my art tries to do that through idea and through appreciation of craft. I wanted it to become art. I believe these bags are art”
As is to be expected, the accessories will be far from cheap. Currently, the cheapest accessories from the collection is set to be just under $1000 with the most expensive being around $6700. But if your still eager for a piece, they go on sale on April 28th.
