The one-piece bathing suit has long been a fashion statement for women of many different generations. However, it is currently undergoing a drastic reimagining at the hands of San Diego-based designer Rufskin. The result? This new Finwick one-piece underwear – for men.
Designed to stay tight to the body, Finwick is being marketed as a practical underwear solution that is perfect for the man on the go. It’s able to work as underwear under tops and bottoms, or working on its own as a top with a pair of shorts or jeans.
Rufskin have described it as “ideal for support during any work out or just looking sharp at any time”, and claimed that the nylon microfibre from which it is made will provide a “superior stretch” and “ultra soft hand”.
The actual underwear section of the garment has been reinforced with a double layer of microfibre as well as a contoured pouch. Practicality is certainly the name of the game for Rufskin!
Apparently the idea has been a massive hit with customers, since the producers are now working on a swimwear version for men to work as a companion item.
“We’ve done well with one-piece underwear styles for some time,” said Douglas Coats, President of Rufskin. “Words don’t do this collection justice. You won’t believe until you touch.”
The makers of Finwick are keen to also promote the possibilities of the garment as an aid to exercise, with the market description calling attention to its provision of “maximum performance with high durability and shape retention”.
With companies like Gap announcing gender-neutral ranges recently, it seems as though the narrowing of the gender gap in fashion terms is set to continue with the option to reinvent traditionally gender-specific items for the other.
So there you are, gents – the future is here. If this looks like something you’re after, they’re retailing for $72 from Rufskin.
