Beauty and the Beast has been generating a lot of hype, as we’ve all been patiently waiting for the new reboot of the classic film to come out. We’re all excited to see Emma Watson play Belle and the amazing supporting cast strut their stuff on screen. In celebration of the impending film release and the iconic fashions of both the classic and the remake, a Beauty and the Beast collection has been gifted to the world.
Christopher Kane has wildly succeeded with this beautiful collection, drawing on his musings of what a modern day Belle would wear. However, he took pains to avoid the one thing that everyone expected.
“I didn’t want to do the yellow dress. I think people were expecting that and to me it just seems too obvious,” said Kane. “I don’t think it’s necessarily something that should be taken out of the world of the film.”
Kane has yet to see the film he’s based on his collection on, but he’s very excited to attend the premiere in New York on the 14th of March. The reason he hasn’t seen the film yet is due to the top notch security surrounding the film. Not even fashion designers get a sneak peak until the film is released in its entirety. Kane couldn’t be more thrilled to have collaborated with the film, especially due to its touching themes.
“[Beauty and the Beast] has this important message of just loving whoever you like, learning that love is about more than just the surface and what other people deem appropriate,” the designer explained.
Drawing on the film’s love of the rose, Kane has put his own dark twist on it through shirts, dresses and skirts. Naturally, it wouldn’t be complete without a Swarovski crystal glow. The main colours of the outfits draw on the film’s colours, such as gold, red, black and sky blue.
This limited edition collection for both men and women will be available online and in selected stores around the UK. The collection will go on sale on March 16th, so mark it in your calendars if you want a piece of this iconic collection.
