5 DIY Christmas gift ideas for the men in your life

This year, take a step back from the panic of last minute shopping and the stressful crowds and DIY Christmas with homemade gifts for the men in your life. When all you can find in stores are the same Christmas socks as the year before, why not show them you really care? Our DIY gift guide will help you to bring back the meaning of Christmas! We’ve collected the five best homemade gifts for the men in your life, because it’s the thought that counts.

King of the Grill

Homemade aprons are a perfect gift for the guy that fancies himself a chef on Christmas Day. You can go all out and make the apron from scratch, or if you’re lazy (like me) you can buy a plain apron and download a template to paint onto the front. Make it personal with a custom design, or even an inside joke to laugh about for Christmases to come.

Dip Dyed Golf Tees

Golf Tee’s are super inexpensive and a really thoughtful gift for the avid golfer in your family. Personalise them by picking his favourite colours and get crafty for an afternoon. Crafters paint works best, but make sure it’s watered down enough that the paint doesn’t clump. Tap the point a few times to get off the excess and leave standing to dry!

Mugs for Men

Every man needs a good mug to start the day. For this project you just need a plain mug (preferably one big enough for him to enjoy his morning coffee in) and a Sharpie! You can keep it generic with hand drawn moustaches, or put his favourite quotes on a set of 3 or 4. Let the design dry then bake for 30 minutes to make it dishwasher safe. The sky is the limit with this one, and the beauty of it is you don’t have to be Picasso to write on a mug!

Sweet Chilli Oil

If your man loves a bit of heat in the kitchen, a bottle of chilli oil is the way to go! All you need is oil, chillies and of course a recycled bottle to put it all in.
Slice the chillies so the seed is exposed, all together about 10-15 chillies depending on how much you’re making. Pop them into the bottle and then fill with the oil. Make sure to let them soak for 2-3 days before gifting, and keep an eye on the oil levels. As the chillies soak and infuse with the oil they’ll drop to the bottom of the bottle. Make sure the ones at the top are still covered or they’ll start to mould.

Guy Time Tickets

While this may seem like a cop out, Guy Time Tickets are a very underrated gift. It’s a perfect idea if you live with your significant other! You can make a set of 12, and make vouchers he can cash in at any time. Include things like permission to play video games for hours on end, let him pick the movie for the night, get out of washing the dishes, and breakfast in bed. They can be made to be super personal too, because you know him better than anyone else. Have fun with it and don’t forget to add the Terms and Conditions!
