How to transition your Winter wardrobe to Spring

Spring is essentially a preview for summer with the added unfortunate bonus of occasional rain. Spring weather can more than often become unpredictable, forcing you to do the dreaded dance of taking off and putting on your jacket due to the constant weather changes. While it’s not time yet to break out the summer shorts and pack away the knitwear, here are a few simple ways to transition your winter wardrobe into spring.

1. Keep the dresses on their hangers…for now.

Don’t let the sun fool you, a sunny, spring day doesn’t necessarily mean its blazing outside and can result in your legs being frozen. Spring is the time where crisp, cool air comes into play, meaning, skip the maxi dresses and play it safe with your favourite pair of jeans. If you have to wear a dress, pair it with a leather or denim jacket to keep it casual.

2. Jeans are still your best friend.

Jeans are a staple piece for every wardrobe and spring is no exception to this rule. While the changing weather can let you get away with tank top or blouse, don’t say goodbye to your skinny jeans just yet. Jeans have the potential to be dressed up or down, depending on the day so keep them on!

3. Knee high boots have now been made redundant.

As someone who searched high and low throughout the entirety of winter and found the perfect pair of knee high boots, this one is a toughy. Knee high boots aren’t flattering in spring due to their need to constrain the legs. Instead, switch your knee highs to a pair of ankle boots get your boot addict fix.

4. Ease into colour and florals.

At the beginning of Spring, resist the urge to plunge headfirst into bold colours and vibrant floral designs and instead start with a subtle pop of colour with an article clothing of your choice. A coloured or floral top is the perfect way to welcome Spring to your wardrobe as well as feed your excitement for the new season.

5. Layer like there’s no tomorrow.

Layering is a great way to reinvent your Winter style during Spring. We’re talking cardigans, leather jackets and basic shirts. The key is to be able to still rock an outfit even if you remove a top layer.

6. Get your sass on with sunnies.

Adding a pop of colour this Spring can even come from a pair of your favourite reflective sunglasses. Sunglasses scream warmer, happier times and will glam up even your most casual look. It’s a subtle statement that will solidify your transition to Spring.
