Is KKW Beauty’s Body Makeup Making Us More Insecure?

Beauty mogul, Kim Kardashian, has launched her latest product for KKW Beauty, which has fuelled mixed opinions online. Her new ‘Body Collection’ includes a body foundation, liquid shimmer and loose pigment shimmer powder, as well as a body brush to blend out the products.

The KUWTK star has candidly documented her long battle with the skin condition, psoriasis. She claims that the body makeup has allowed her to feel confident in her skin when suffering from episodes of psoriasis, which is characterised by a build-up of skin cells that cause scaling skin and inflammation, which can be painful and itchy.

After using body makeup for over a decade, Kim was frustrated with the lack of colour options that other brands had sold, so she formulated her own range for her brand, KKW Beauty. Kardashian also stated that she has used the product to cover her unsightly veins and bruises on her legs and that the Body Collection is her secret to an even skin tone.

However, the star has been slammed on social media for misusing her platform to create more insecurities for women, with some fans suggesting that she is creating unrealistic beauty standards.

One fan commented that applying makeup to psoriasis further aggravates the skin, as the recommended treatment for the condition is to use topical ointments to hydrate scaly and itchy skin.

Others have accused the reality TV star of copying Fenty Beauty’s ‘Body Lava’ and Huda Beauty’s ‘N.M.P.H.’ body shimmer products, which are liquid shimmers formulated to provide a noticeable glow.

Whilst fans came to Kim’s defence stating that the product is not patented technology and that KKW Beauty has every right to make their take on the product.

Some followers have come to her defence, stating that Sally Hansen’s ‘Airbrush Legs’ uses the same concept of body makeup for legs and that the backlash Kim is receiving is uncalled for.

The collection is set to launch on the 21st of June and comes in a range of 3 shimmers and 7 shades of body foundation, only available on KKW Beauty. Stay tuned for more Beauty News.
