Will You Rock NY Fashion Week A/W 19’s Hair Trends?

New York Fashion Week Autumn/Winter is upon us and whilst we’re only just hitting February with both feet (following the forever that was January), the fashion bods of the world are already looking forward to the end of the year. Of course, this gives us a chance to get ahead of the fashion game and start rocking some of the key looks ahead of time.

Whilst the clothing issue might be an issue with the warmer temperatures of summer, we can certainly emulate some of the key hair and beauty trends seen on the runaway. The great thing about the hair trends on display is just how easy they are to recreate. It seems the theme for the season is all about simplistic, classic ‘dos, but with a slight twist to keep them relevant. This is great news for us!

To help you stay ahead of the hair fashion game, here are some of the key hair looks seen at this year’s NY Fashion Week A/W 2019.

It’s All About Long Hair

Whilst the lob was quite evident on the catwalk, most models wore long, natural hair, without too much in the way of straightening. The natural look is ideal for those of us with busy lifestyles, who don’t want to spend too long every morning with straighteners in hand! Of course, this is also far better for the health of your hair too. The textured lob was also a look seen several times, across a few different designers.

Ponytails Are Back With a Bang

Okay, so they never really went out of fashion, and thanks to the likes of Ariana Grande, we’re all obsessed with high, swinging ponytails, but this year’s NY Fashion Week AW showed us a few twists on the old theme. For instance, the low pony, gathered at the nape of the neck, with a lock of long hair wrapped around to disguise the hair band, was a common sight. Add a little serum to sleek down any loose, flyaway tendrils, and you have one of the easiest looks on the catwalk.

Another very popular style was the deep parting, i.e. very far to one side, with a sleek sweep of hair over the forehead. The low pony was then employed again, although a few twists included texture to the back section, to add a little extra oomph.

The Iconic Low Messy Bun

Unless you have endless amounts of time in the morning to recreate rather intricate up dos, the resurgence of the low messy bun will have you smiling. Simply wrap low at the nape, around a doughnut if you need a little extra volume to your hair, and if not, just wrap around your own hair band, and secure a few loose tendrils with clips. Let the rest fly free, and you have the low messy bun craze mastered with ease. You could also have a few tendrils of hair loose at the front to soften the overall look. This style is ideal for any occasion, even job interviews!

The Bohemian Side Plait

As you’ll have guessed by now, this year’s NY Fashion Week styles were far from intricate and much more low key and natural. Again, great news! Several models were seen wearing the iconic side plait, i.e. long hair worn to one side in a plait. The front section was in a deep side parting, with a sleek appearance, using a little serum for some help. The great thing about this style is that it makes our next style very easy to achieve …

Let The Wave And Curls Run Free!

Another iconic look was loose hair, but wavy or curly in particular. We’re not talking about defined waves here, we’re talking natural waves from wearing your hair in a plait the day before, just like our last style. Easy to achieve and if you need to tame your locks a little, simply use a spritz of hairspray to keep everything less Monica from Friends in humidity, and more natural bohemian.

These are some of the main hairstyles seen at New York Fashion Week AW ’19. Get recreating and be bang on trend, ahead of time!
