5 Killer SFX Halloween Looks

With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to double down on costume prep and figure out exactly what you’re going to be this year. Still haven’t figured it out yet? Makeup is definitely going to be your saviour.

There are heaps of easy costumes you can do using only makeup, but for those who want to try something a little more complicated, there’s only one way to go.

SFX makeup is the key to racking up those Instagram likes, and there’s plenty of inspiration online. Here are five of my fav illusory glam looks.

Elf

I’m probably not the only one who fell in love with Orlando Bloom as a bow swinging elf. Kiana Jones took the classic idea of a beautiful elf and added in some scars and black lenses to transform her into a badass battle elf.

While she agrees it doesn’t fully translate badassery, we can all agree that the look is hella gorgeous.

Voodoo Witch Doctor

We wouldn’t want to walk into him when we’re out trick and treating. The amazing Desi Perkins transformed her hubby into a scary Witch Doctor,  using prosthetics with some black and white greasepaint to create a hollowed out look. She topped it off by adding a dark headpiece and some cobwebs in order to go full Halloween.

Bit too scary? She has just released a last minute Halloween mermaid look for those who want to have a bit more glam in their look.

Devil

Ready to take it to the next level? This look is devilishly good. Elli integrated her Maleficent-like horns into a full out red look. She added in some orange accents to create some depth and popped on some big lashes to add an extra glam factor. It’s the little things that take from the Little Mermaid’s Sebastian to gorgeous She-devil.

Zombie Bunny

Elli gave us another Halloween look which gave us at least one revelation: sexy Playboy bunny is so last year. Bring in some death and destruction, and give your bunny look a scary twist.

Faun Queen

Last, but definitely not least, is the Faun Queen. The look created by Ellie is gorgeous with colours of gold and white, paired with some rosy hair. While the headpiece is a definite eyecatcher, Ellie manages to ramp up the makeup to match the fabulousness.

With Halloween parties starting this weekend you’d better start prepping these looks. Trick or treat? Be the treat.
