It’s Friday, thank God! If you’re heading out after work, it can sometimes be difficult to work out how to turn your office appropriate outfit into something that will turn it up at the bar. Here are some simple tips to nail your post 5pm style.

Sky high

Changing your shoes is the quickest way to switch your look from day to night. Carry some heels in your bag or keep them stashed at your desk so you’re ready to shimmy into them as soon as work is done. No matter what your outfit, heels will elevate it to night-time status immediately.

Less is more

Removing a layer is the easiest way to glam up an outfit. Simply taking off your blazer sets you up for the evening. Or, if you’re a little more daring, you can leave your blazer on and remove your shirt.

Add it back in

Sometimes it’s the way you style your outfit that sets the tone for your event. If the night gets a little chillier, channel your inner farshun diva and throw your jacket over your shoulders. Nonchalant and effortlessly cool.

Switch up your makeup

Sometimes a bold red lip or smoky eyes aren’t quite appropriate for your office, but come 5pm a quick touch up can make all the difference. We’re not saying you need to completely re-do your face, but adding a brighter shade of lipstick or adding a dramatic flick of eye-liner sometimes makes all the difference.

Statement jewellery and a bold clutch will take your office look to the next level with almost no effort. Adding some attention grabbing earrings or a bright bag is the easiest way of saying “It’s playtime, bitches!”

Swap your skirt

If you really want to change an item of your outfit, make it your skirt. Most work outfits have dark block skirts, but by changing into a bright pattered skirt you will have instantly updated your look.
